Meta — the parent company of Facebook and Instagram — has removed The Ruff House Rescue Accountability Project , an independent watchdog account dedicated to public transparency about Ruff House Rescue, Inc. (RHR). The removal followed what appeared to be a trademark claim (NYS registration number S23927), though there's no clear evidence of any actual trademark infringement. Although all details have not been disclosed, it seems Meta may have acted out of caution—potentially responding to legal pressure, or the appearance of it—rather than any verified violation. Justice on a Leash: Suffolk County, NY Lets an Accused Animal Abuser Run a Rescue and Decide the Fate of Animals

In March 2025, Diane Indelicato—president of Ruff House Rescue, Inc. in West Islip, NY—was arrested and charged with animal cruelty under New York Agriculture & Markets Law § 353, after a dog named Tali died at her shelter following prolonged, untreated suffering. According to charging documents, witnesses repeatedly warned Indelicato about Tali’s urgent medical condition, including ulcerated abdominal tumors, respiratory distress, and rapid decline, but no care was provided—until Tali was found dead in her kennel. Multiple public and media accounts trace a troubling pattern of complaints and concerns about animal care at Ruff House Rescue, Inc., stretching back years.
